More dry Leaser pics

This view is again, from the island, looking back towards the dam and what's left of the lake. If you click the pic to enlarge, you'll notice some specs down at the water hole: fishermen pulling out the stranded fish. To the right you can see the original water line.

Again from the island, this time looking back towards the left of the boat launch.

Some of the structure that was apparently submerged when the lake was originally dammed. The clump of trees in the background was the island.

The view down the boat launch, which now serves as a motorcycle launch.

KLR in the bottom of Leaser Lake

Taken about 10' below the waterline at the edge of (what used to be) the island. Across the "lake" in the break in the trees you can just make out the boat launch, which is blocked with boulders to prevent cars driving down.
The KLR is in the center of the pic on what looks to be an original (prior to the damn being built in the late 1960's) little culvert for one of the feeder streams.
Besides the old tires and home-made boat anchors strewn around the lake bed, there are a few field stone structures/ foundations: presumably farm buildings, again, from before the lake was first flooded in the late 60's.

PSU Highacres

The "Frank Kostos" building on the left, and the library on the right. Note the metal sculpture on the library.

Just above the "top lot." The small building showing its gable end is (was, anyway) the bookstore.

More buildings there now than in 1986

The admin building with the lion in front on the left, the library (I think) on the right.

A view down the hill behind the admin building.

Another view of the admin building.

Hazleton

The old man is probably dead, but the junk yard is still there right on rt309 just south of Hazleburg.

The "Green House." It's still green, even. There was a church (or a Catholic school maybe) in the empty lot between the alley where the pic was taken and the house. there were some townies on the porch - maybe students.

I think this was the "White House." Taken from the back of the property (the parking area). There's a church on one side, some brick building on the other, and a gas station directly across the street. A pile of rubble now.

Slightly different view showing the church.

As I thought

I wouldn't keep up with this very well. With the laptop and home ISP gone, the only place to come online is from the WW pc. Any unoccupied time at WW is spent trying to get the hell out of WW due to the massive number of hours I spend here.
No boarders tonight, no training tonight. Today will suck, tho: a rowdy crowd, boarding pickup, complicated check-outs (we sent out coupons), an afternoon eval, and I'm supposed to meet with Kathleen at 4PM- but will likely re-schedule.

Got another GC after 2 seperate trips to EBG, so now I've been playing too much too late and I've been really beat for the past few days. Also from brokestuff w/e: managed to fix my TS with little fuss and re-arranged the shop a little. Seems like I have a lot more room now at the expense of some infeed and outfeed concessions. Time, and a lot of it since I don't get down there much anymore, will tell..

The fence guy never faxed us a quote.

Everyone is being pretty quiet on the DC floor as I'm out front typing this. I guess I won't squander the nap time.

Brian didn't show up for Sat nights' game. As usual, I was a bit frustrated with lacking or misunderstood information but also as usual, it was awesome. Kent has threatened me with a roadtrip to the hand tool guy in PA featured in FWW. Shop time is dearly missed.

Beginning to feelings of dread regarding the a/c situation at WW. It's going to get HOT. We've been catching a break the past couple of weeks with nights cold enough to cool it off and days temperate enough to not warm it back up. We still get north of 70deg when it's nice outside. I suspect the lights and bodies are enough to dump heat in there all day to account for this. We can passively vent the roof again (sealed for winter) but passive is passive. This is gonna suck.
